Brittany Faust

Class of 2007:
Brittany Faust is an award-winning water steward. She attended St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN and was awarded a B.A. in Environmental Studies. She currently works as an Environmental Specialist for the Mississippi Watershed Management Organization in Minneapolis, monitoring the water quality of the Mississippi River as it flows through the watershed.  She also uses her knowledge and experience to promote clean water in the urban environment by educating local communities in water conservation and storm-water management practices. With the help of the Master Water Stewards program and MWMO, Brittany and her collaborator Kristine Maurer have redesigned the way rainwater flows off of a historic building in St. Paul, redirecting it to large cisterns to supply a series of vertical and horizontal gardens, and eliminating hazardous overflow. This is an example of new and sustainable management procedures.  Brittany is currently pursuing a Master’s degree at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities in Natural Resources Science and Management.
