David J. Dean

Class of 1966:
David J. Dean was an instructor at the Madison College and advocate for workers’ rights.  When he was at East High, he earned Eagle Scout status at Troop 41, sponsored by Trinity Lutheran Church.  He was awarded a BA in Computer Programming from UW-Whitewater, and became an instructor in information technology at Madison College (then called Madison Area Technical College, MATC).  He was elected President of AFT Local 243 for four terms and President of AFT-WI for two terms. He successfully negotiated early retirement for MATC instructors and a large increase in Wisconsin retirement benefit. During his tenure, he was elected to the board of directors of Madison College Foundation.  David retired from Madison College as the longest serving instructor in Information Technology.
